이번 EnM 29권 4호에는 총 5편의 종설, 17편의 원저, 1편의 Brief report와 2편의 증례가 실렸습니다. 대한비만학회와의 연계를 통해서 비만진료지침을 요약판으로 정리해서 실었으며, 성균관의대 박철영 교수님이 “Antiobesity Pharmacotherapy for Patients with Type 2 diabetes: Focus on Long-Term Management”라는 제목으로, 제2형 당뇨병 환자에서의 비만치료제에 대해 정리해 주셨습니다. 동국의대 오상우 교수님께서는 “Optimal Waist Circumference Cutoff Values for the Diagnosis of Abdominal Obesity in Korean Adults”란 제목으로, 한국인에서의 허리둘레의 이상적인 비만 진단 기준에 대한 연구들에 대한 고찰과 함께 성별에 따른 다른 허리둘레의 기준에 대해서 정리해 주셨으며, 성균관의대 이은정 교수님께서 “Metabolic and Cardiovascular Implications of a Metabolically Healthy Obesity Phenotype”이라는 제목으로, 최근 issue가 되고 있는 metabolically healthy obesity의 대사적 의미와 심혈관 위험도에 대해서 정리해 주셨습니다. 고려대 생명과학부의 구승회 교수님께서, “Role of Protein Arginine Methyltransferases in the Control of Glucose Metabolism”이라는 제목으로, protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMTs)에 대한 고찰과, hepatic gluconeogenesis에 관여하는 역할에 대한 종설을 실어주셨습니다.

총 17편의 원저가 실렸는데, 이 중에서 “Using Growth Hormone Levels to Detect Macroadenoma in Patients with Acromegaly” 논문은, 당부하 검사 30분의 GH 농도가 5.7 ng/mL이상이면 거대선종을 감별할 수 있다는 내용을 실었고, “Clinical Characteristics of Metabolic Features of Patients with Adrenal Incidentalomas with or without Subclinical Cushing’s Syndrome” 논문에서는 부신우연종 환자 중 subclinical Cushing’s syndrome을 가진 환자에서의 임상적 특징을 분석하였습니다. “Preoperative Localization and Intraoperative Parathyroid Hormone Assay in Korean Patients with Primary Hyperparathyroidism” 논문에서는 수술 중의 PTH assay의 유용성에 대해서 실었으며, “Clinical Characteristics, Management, and Outcome of 22 Cases of Primary Hypophysitis” 논문에서는, 22개의 증례 분석을 통해 primary hypophysitis의 임상적 특징과 예후 등을 분석하여 실었습니다. “Clinical Implications of Various Criteria for the Biochemical Diagnosis of Insulinoma” 논문에서는, 인슐린종의 진단에 있어서의 Endocrine Society의 glucose, insulin, c-peptide guideline의 유용성에 대해서 논하고 있으며, “Standardized Thyroid Cancer Mortality in Korean between 1985 and 2010” 논문에서는 통계청 자료를 이용해서, 1985년부터 2010년까지의 갑상선암에 의한 사망률을 분석한 결과를 발표하였습니다.

위에 소개한 논문 이외에도 다양한 내분비 영역의 우수한 논문들이 이번 호에 실렸습니다.
